Matchless Pairs

I take the privilege of age and whatever other excuses
I can marshall to make one of the intial contributions to this amazing
project you are beginning.
No poet am I. Thus the few words
of prose noting that on first hearing of the the idea a flood of
memories came forward, each with its complex of emotions.
This woman immediately relates to a "ziplock"
bag half filled with fragments and singles, the plastic, mine clouded
with dust of makeup and webs of time, protecting its treasure.
I doubt there are many women who don't recall
the story each and every piece of jewelry can tell. I feel closer
to my sisters, and the wold becomes a little less lonely, a little
less intimidating.
As I sorted through my baggie and scoured other
small containers and compartments for others I discovered many more
and many older than I had any idea I had held on to. And yes. The
memories. There will be more to share. But I am familiar with my
memories and feelings.
Now I pause to listen. and to find new meaning.
